This is my first regular TC diary. I’m so happy to be here. I’d like to thank the Academy. and brillig.
I feel a little Trevor Noah here. I feel, also, a touch of Didi Gregorius, who replaced Derek Jeter. I’m generally a little starstruck by the moment. But not enough to point out that Jeter has a lower UID than kos.
It seems to me that Top Comments should be a nightly celebration of community. C’mon, the top comments always brighten your day. You know they do it. It’s okay. You can admit it.
So, if one of them gives you a thought or a feel or a laugh, please share that here. I’m chained to this diary until it either slips off the list or I collapse due to exhaustion. I can’t guarantee either outcome. Place your bets as you see fit.
I will totally rec that comment. Even days later. I swear. It’s guaranteed. Is guaranteed free mojo even a thing anymore? If it is, where do I get some? To be completely honest, I took this gig for the mojo potential. Don’t tell me if it was a good deal or not. Please.
Here at Top Comments we welcome longtime as well as brand new Daily Kos readers to join us at 10pm Eastern. We strive to nourish community by rounding up some of the site's best, funniest, most mojo'd & most informative commentary, and we depend on your help!! If you see a comment by another Kossack that deserves wider recognition, please send it either to topcomments at gmail or to the Top Comments group mailbox by 9:30pm Eastern. Please please please include a few words about why you sent it in as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already :-)), so we can credit you with the find!
Who Is This Guy?
Most of you won’t know me. I used to write here as gravlax and I doubt that even that name will mean much to you. I still plan to refer to gravlax’s #1 Rule for Internet Sanity* until kos himself shuts it down. I’m damn proud of that joke and I own the copyright so I’m using it.
* For those of you who are unfamiliar with this rule:
Stay away from the comment section. Always.
I broke said rule this week at Bannon’s digital rag. It wasn’t fun. But enough about that. John, apparently, also needs to be reminded of the rule from time to time.
I guess, and hope, that some will remember me. It has happened once or twice and it is a very cool stroke for the ego experience.
I gotta say, one of the best moments of my time here was the three minutes I reveled in top mojo for the day honors. Those were sweet, beautiful, glorious minutes that I will always treasure.
The Goal
I want Sunday Top Comments to be a gathering place. Community Diaries are the things that keep us talking to each other sometimes. This is a safe space. There will be no “slavering”. brillig said so. So just don’t do it.
I would only add that positive comments about the Baltimore Ravens will be immediately refuted as libelous slandery and falshood-ism. You have been warned. I will brook no such insult.
And Now For Something Completely Different
First person to name the species of parrot that dies in this show in the comments section will get a complimentary tote bag or some such. If you win, and don’t promptly receive your prize, please contact Mr Paul Ryan to lodge a complaint.
And Now Sports! *explicit language
There is really only one hard and fast rule of determining “right — ness” that applies to Sunday Top Comments. If it wasn’t specifically argued against by George Carlin then it is open for discussion here. Just be prepared to encounter someone else (certainly not me) who knows the cannon better and cede according to precedent.
Finally,
At the very least introduce yourself before you leave, please. Or, even better, stick around for the musical portion of tonight’s entertainment in the comments. Here’s a taste of what I’m feeling tonight ...
TOP COMMENTS
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (eg your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down. Please remember that comment inclusion in Top Comments does not constitute support or endorsement by diarist, formatter, Top Comments writers or DailyKos. Questions, complaints or comments? Contact brillig.
From your humble diarist:
It doesn’t feel like Sunday morning without an FP diary from deoliver. I particularly liked this response from John in Denver for insight into some state politics, which is always welcomed and encouraged.
Noodles suggested the current problem with the media and the party in Ian Reifowitz's FP diary this morning. I just like the way the argument was constructed.
This discussion started by Boise Blue about Twitter and the merits thereof in Hunter's FP diary this afternoon. I enjoy speculation about unintended consequences. So sue me.
From Avilyn:
On a day when I sorely needed cheering up, the exchange which starts with angry marmot's comment in today's Connect! Act! Unite! made me laugh.
From Ed Tracey:
In the diary by Rolandz - about the man who stood in front of an Islamic Center in Irving, Texas with a sign telling the congregants that they belong.... I must concur with linguist2 who was certain (at first glance) that the sign would be negative .... and especially with the appearance of the man holding the sign.

Arguments for Top Wu Tang Album will be engaged in conversation and bonhomie. Step up to the microphone.
My submission is “Only Built For Cuban Links” with “Liquid Swords 2” a close second.
I love the raw power of “Only Built For Cuban Links” and think that this was the first of the solo albums on which RZA locked in a combination of classical music composition with the Shaolin style. The album played start to finish tells a complete, operatic story. Plus, “Ice Cream”. You know you love “Ice Cream”.
The second “Liquid Swords” is the first one done better because GZA is always growing knowledge and strength. “Knock Knock” is my #1 track in the Wu universe.
