Russia is Ramping up for War
Putin is emboldened by his new alliance with Trump and Trump’s anti-Nato, anti-EU, and anti-western alliance stances as well as the weakening of Europe with Brexit and the rise of Alt-Right Nationalist governments in Europe. According to U.S. News and World Report, Russia is quietly preparing for war:
Russia is quietly testing the defenses of its Nordic neighbors [Norway, Sweden, and Finland] with subtle provocations, alarming Western powers concerned about Moscow's intentions in a vital but largely overlooked part of the world.
‘A major war can no longer be ruled out,’ Robert Dalsjo, DRA's expert on the Baltics, said of Russia. ‘What's at stake is U.S. credibility for its own guarantees. … Their [Russia’s] goal is to show that Article 5 [of the Nato alliance] is a joke.’

Central and eastern European leaders may be particularly wary after Trump declared Nato was “obsolete”. Judy Dempsey, senior associate at Carnegie Europe, said: “What Trump has said about Nato is music to the Kremlin’s ears. If that is what an American thinks of Nato, the bedrock about the transatlantic alliance, which Russia is always trying to divide and split and weaken [Nato], well, Trump is handing them a silver platter.”

U.S. News and World Report explains that Russia is making advances because Trump has put in question the credibility of Nato and Trump is woefully unaware of and unprepared for the threat he is facing from Russia. Here is the article explaining this: www.usnews.com/...
