I voted for Bernie Sanders in the primary. I voted for Jill Stein here in New York. So save me the “wah, third party” bullshit too, I knew that I was safe in my state and they earn my vote by running credible candidates for local and state races. But, getting back to the “I told you so” assholes who are getting tons of love here right now, those candidates never win, even in my heavily Democratic city. I vote for them, as I voted for Bernie Sanders, because they align more closely with my political views. And they just don’t win. Bernie was my guy, but if he was so fucking great he would have won the nomination of the liberal party.
We live in a country that has an economically and socially conservative electorate. The idea that Bernie “would” have won is ridiculous. Sure, he could have won, but I’d put Hillary’s likelihood of winning a lot higher than his. I don’t think the “Sanders would have won” people are taking into consideration the immense amount of scrutiny and pressure that the media and Trump would have put on him. Hillary always had a low ceiling. Bernie always had a low floor. He could easily have been wiped out Mondale style.
