In consultation with my co-editor, officebss, we have decided to end Indigo Kalliope: Poems From the Left as a weekly poetry blog. I’ll still be around to put up a poem on my own when the mood strikes.

Without a Middling Damn
_
While pulling the loose thread of
_
days that seemed present and real,
_
Autumn slipped away
_
without a middling damn.
_
Standing at the end of my faded shadow
_
one hour looked much like another when
_
long light blew out solid cold.
_
Kids of mine are not so young. They know
_
what it is with, without regret when it is gone.
_
The librarian took my picture
_
in fabulous celluloid necktie focus
_
to document the age of the locust-bitten.
Dear Loyal Followers of Indigo Kalliope —
It has been a joy and a privilege to explore contemporary poetry with you here at Indigo Kalliope. The face of modern poetry is changing, as many poets return to poetry’s roots as an oral tradition instead of a written one, which is both exciting and daunting to cover.
In addition, the sheer size of the Daily Kos website makes getting attention increasingly difficult for a subject that most Kossacks seem to think is not relevant to the political struggle which drives DK.
I will never lose my belief that we need poetry, which can crystallize complex ideas and feelings into searing imagery that stays with us forever, comfort us when we despair, and lift us once again when we have fallen.
Fortunately, Poetry will still be with us — it is only this tiny corner stand which is shuttering its windows.
Deepest thanks for all your support and contributions. Be well.
