Hey, guys. Between sending your content contributors requests for money, could we all get a thanks now and then?
I am a content provider to Daily Kos and have been for many years. We contributors are aware that content is your sole asset. Hence, we are contributing to and building your assets. Personally, there is rarely anything in it for me other than spending time to format my articles into your blog format. But the posts from all of us unpaid contributors are what keeps your company alive.
I contribute content because that’s what you need in order to monetize and sustain the site — and I believe in your site.
So, I guess my request is that, perhaps, you shouldn’t as aggressively or as frequently ask those of us who build — who build the assets that give you the basis for income — for income.
Analogy? I don’t think that that bricklayers should be asked to help with the mortgage.
Personally, I’d be more responsive to your fundraising requests if, as a content provider, I received an email saying “hey … we’ve got a platform for you and appreciate your contributions…. we’re trying to keep that platform alive so you can keep posting here so send us a buck.”
You know, just a little recognition when you ask for money. That’s all. Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way. Let’s see.
