Before today, the main media narrative about Bernie vs. Hillary was that she would win in Iowa. Also, that he winning in Iowa would mean doom for Bernie Sanders and his campaign is done for.
As I type this, Bernie and Hillary are too close to call. She has a 0.2% lead in votes; he has a 2 delegate lead.
If Hillary wins by even a little bit, either in delegate count or in votes cast, the mainstream talking heads will say something like, “Well, Bernie got close but he clearly lost. His campaign is over, time to write him off."
If Bernie wins a squeaker of an upset, even in both the delegate count and the votes, the same mainstream talking heads will say something like, “Well, Bernie technically won, but Hillary was really close and we still have to look at all the future contests. Except New Hampshire, because the people there are magically in Bernie’s pocket because New Hampshire is a suburb of Vermont."
Stand strong, Sanderistas. Do not jeer at the Clintonians, for they are our brethren in arms, but tell them this: you were told he could not win Iowa. Do you still believe that after these results? What other defeatist narratives have you been fed that might yet be proven wrong?
Good night.
