New Hampshire has spoken and big, high, long walls and lots of free stuff carry the day. And coming in second behind the xenophobe was a donkey in an elephant suit. Just when you think you got all this figured out, you don’t.
I don’t count Hillary out just yet, but I don’t think Bill looking over her shoulder helps her, it makes her look incomplete, insufficient, somehow, I personally think she would do better by just doing this as herself, for herself, and the country she says she wants to represent and lead. I need to know she can and will make the decisions that she might be elected to make, not just be the mannequin for Bill Clinton’s third term.
Up next, South Carolina, Free stuff should still be a big seller, but not free college so much, more like free guns, cell phones, cars, hospitals, apartments there. Bet you don’t hear the republicans wanting to cut EBT and EIC while they pander there. Big tall walls should still be popular in SC and so should donkeys in elephant suits.
Looking in the mirror, I have to wonder what kind of country we all really want? What kind of people do we all aspire to be? Where are our hearts these days and what is the allignment of all that with what our government is actually doing in this world? These, to me are what elections are supposed to, if not decide, perhaps discover, and sadly, I’m afraid that this may still be the case, as in nothing’s changed, what you are seeing and hearing is who we are reflected in our public discourse and what our politicos say to us to get our votes, which comes from what they find sticks, works, and what their demographic testing tells them to say.
I’m a hopeful guy, really, underneath my apparent cynicism which is more sarcasm really. That’s just my style.
Anyway, don’t forget to vote.
