Donald Trump, current frontrunner for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, co-signed radio host Michael Savage’s assertion that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia may have been assassinated. Trump joined Savage by phone on the February 15 edition of The Savage Nation and, in response to Savage’s theory, replied that he had information that “a pillow had been found on [Scalia’s] face.”
Trump now joins Alex Jones and crew, who says that the 79-year-old justice was murdered.
Sigh.
You can check out the audio of that broadcast, where Savage asks Trump if he would support the creation of a “Warren Commission” to look into Scalia’s death, below courtesy of Media Matters for America.
In the real world, Presidio County, Texas Judge Cinderela Guevara determined that Scalia died of natural causes after speaking with Scalia’s personal physician and also consulting with local and federal investigators to rule out the possibility of foul play. Guevara did not order an autopsy to be performed. The Associated Press is reporting that Guevara was given details about the state of Scalia’s health on the day of his death by his doctor. Rear Adm. Brian P. Monahan is the attending physician for members of Congress and the Supreme Court. According the to AP Guevara stated that she spoke with a “Dr. Monahan” Saturday evening, February 13, and he told her that Scalia “had a history of heart trouble, high blood pressure and was considered too weak to undergo surgery for a recent shoulder injury.”
Scalia apparently had mentioned to some people at the ranch he was not feeling well, according to Guevara. She said that information came from her conversations with Presidio County Sheriff Danny Dominguez and a U.S. marshal she identified as Ken Roberts, both of whom had seen Scalia's body and determined there was no foul play.
State law allows an inquest to be performed by phone. Guevara said she followed the procedure because both justices of the peace serving the region were out of town and she was also about 65 miles away from the resort.
