I was hoping for a win for Bernie yesterday. It was disappointing to see him come so close to closing the gap but end up short of the goal. I did mope around on Daily Kos for a bit but then I looked at the current committed delegate count. It’s 51-51. Sure there are a bunch of super delegates listed for Hillary but in the earned column it’s dead even. This people driven campaign is tied with the DNC lead machine that has had a few years of prep time up on Bernie. We’ve been behind in money and media time from the start but right now it’s an even draw. Once I realized that I donated another $27 to Bernie and signed up to canvass my neighborhood this morning. It was a great day that has left me really energized. I live in Minnesota and we have our caucus on March 1st. Today I met so many people that like Bernie’s message that have never thought to go to a caucus before. The union members that I talked with were really PISSED and dismayed at their union leadership for endorsing Hillary. In general it seemed that they thought that the fix is in with the TPP and really wondered who was representing them in Washington. At the end of the day I had 23 commitments to caucus for Bernie. I know it doesn’t sound like much but in a process where less than 1% of the eligible voters are picking the candidates, 23 people in one neighborhood is a groundswell of support. Get out from behind the keyboard and put some leg work in! It’s just begun and we’ve got a pile of work ahead of us if we want to take back control of our country.
