I have been intently watching both sides of the presidential race. I never realized how fascinating politics could be. There is so much rhetoric that is sheer stupidity and out and out lies coming from the red zone. So I decided to put together some thoughts from my observation. I am a retired widow being treated for cancer so I have lots of time to watch the campaigns.
My first question to the Republicans is: Since you think that President Obama’s executive actions are unconstitutional, will you promise never to make an executive action? Or is it only unconstitutional for President Obama to make executive actions but it is constitutional for you to do the same thing?
If you do away with the Iran agreement your first day in office, how will you answer the other countries involved in that agreement when they come down on you for violating that agreement?
How do you answer those of us who say the Affordable care act has saved our sight, our lives, keeping us from bankruptcy when we have massive medical bills and who were able to get insurance even with pre-existing conditions?
How are you going to answer those who are harmed by climate change while you sit there denying it, even though the seas are rising, we are having more and more earth quakes from fracking, more and more violent storms and more and more respiratory illnesses, cancers, etc. from polluted air and water?
If you choose not to allow President Obama to put through a Supreme court nominee? What if he would pick a moderate judge as a nominee but decided to appoint an interim justice and because you would not work with him appoints a far left progressive?
What will you say to all those who are not white, right wing, men when they rise up in protest for your selfish removal of all programs that help them to survive and get ahead?
What will you do, if Trump becomes president and maybe has Christie as his VP and we have a literal bully pulpit?
I tell the people that I talk politics with that if they want a Republican president to either vote Republican or don’t vote at all. But, if they are as terrified of having Trump, Rubio,, or Cruz as I am then they need to get out and vote for the Democratic nominee, whoever that might be. All our infighting here just plays into their hands. I am a Hillary supporter and think she will get the nomination but if Bernie should become the nominee, I will vote for him. Either one of our candidates are so much better than all of theirs put together. It is time we begin to show respect for both of our candidates and to coalesce around whoever gets the nomination.
