More bad news for our Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-Indicted Felon).
As you may or may not know, Paxton has been indicted on charges of first degree securities fraud and failing to register as an investment advisor. The charges of first degree securities fraud are serious — if convicted Kenny could face 20 years or more in state prison.
Because these alleged crimes took place before Paxton was elected Texas attorney general, he cannot use campaign funds to pay his lawyers. He has to use his own money, or set up a legal defense fund.
However, the Texas Ethics Commission issued an advisory opinion that if Paxton tried to raise money for a legal defense fund, he would be in violation of Texas’ bribery statutes. By the way, yes indeed, there is indeed such a thing as an ethics commission in our state)
Adding to Paxton’s woes is the fact that he is also undergoing investigation for some shady real investment deals.
God help me, I want to see this crook get thrown into prison for a long, long time.
