“Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain. But you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life. There's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there. Like a splinter in your mind. Driving you mad.”
“This is your last chance. After this there is no turning back. You take the blue pill-
-the story ends, you wake up in your bed and you believe whatever you want to.
You take the red pill- -you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”
Welcome to the Matrix!
The make believe world where nothing you hear is real and nothing you see can be trusted.
The quadrennial contest of wannabe kings who all profess to be the most unusual of commoners. The annual playoff of political of pro-bowlers who all profess to never having played the game… or donned a uniform before.
The only place in the universe where a person seeks to convince you that they will lead a revolution... if you will just select them to move their family into palace and give them control of the treasury and palace guard.
The Matrix, where millionaires and billionaires pretend to be just like the rest of us… only richer. This is the place where a Princeton educated scholar, can argue with a Harvard educated lawyer over what it feels like to be a high school drop out.
This is a place where destruction becomes building and people proudly profess to wanting to become the most powerful leader in the world to destroy the they government they seek to lead.
The Matrix!
A place where you can defend religious freedom, by condemning someone else’s religion, defend privacy by dictating the most intimate aspects of someone else’s family planning and end of life decisions and you can fix income inequality by protecting the right of the rich to be rich.
Where doing nothing is progress and unraveling what has already been done is building for the future.
A existence where politicians insist that they are non-political. Where there are no complex problems not amenable to simplistic solutions, and mistakes are made only by others. Where we get to critique the history of others while ignoring our own.
A place where spending trillions on the military is not enough, but millions on education is too much. Where only your climate is warming while mine is just fine, where paying for clean water is too expensive and cleaning dirty water is too complicated.
Where we don’t believe in a national government or paying national taxes, but we believe the national government should foot the bill to fix disasters, natural and man made.
Where not bothering to vote entitles you to complain about who ever is elected for the next four years, until you don’t bother to vote again.
Can you tell me about those pills again…
