Well, we finally got down to the bottom of the Cruz campaign's lie about Ben Carson suspending his campaign just before the Iowa caucus. During Saturday night’s GOP debate, Cruz started with, "Ben, I'm sorry," before going on to pin the entire episode on CNN reporters.
It was their team that said Carson was "taking a break," Cruz recalled.
"They reported that on television,” said Cruz. ”CNN's political anchors, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash and Wolf Blitzer said it was highly unusual and highly significant."
There you have it! It was on TV, so it must be true. That's when Cruz said his "political team" jumped. AND ... CNN apparently didn't correct the record, so to speak, from "6:30 to 9:15" p.m. (Never mind the fact that they never actually reported that Carson was suspending his campaign, or at least not by Cruz’s recollection.)
So, you see. CNN is clearly on the hook for this. And Cruz remains totally true to his unctuous self.
And Mr. Carson, if you would be so kind, please just send your laundry out during the campaign so we can save the Cruz campaign from itself in the future.
