The first in the nation primary election in New Hampshire has a specific way delegates are selected for the candidates. Thanks to an excellent diary by Torilahure a few days ago, here is a recap of how delegates are allotted in the New Hampshire primary.
There are 8 delegates for district 1, 8 for district 2, plus 8 for the statewide result. So 8+8+8=24 delegates total.
For each district and statewide, here are the benchmarks to look for on election night.
If a candidate gets the following percentage of the vote, then he or she earns these delegates:
at least 31.3% but not over 43.8% earns 3 of the 8 delegates
at least 43.8% but not over 56.3% earns 4 of the 8 delegates
at least 56.3% but not over 68,8% earns 5 of the 8 delegates
at least 68.8% earns 6 of the 8 delegates. (there are other benchmarks both above and below these levels, but they seem very unlikely to come into play)
It appears the delegate outcomes of either 12-12, 13-11, 14-10, or 15-9 are most likely. I’m sure there will be links to the best places to find the district results and statewide results on dkos.
Get the popcorn ready and enjoy the returns! May your favorite candidate have a good night!
