If Donald Trump becomes the Republican Party's nominee, Utahns would vote for a Democrat for president in November for the first time in more than 50 years, according to a new Deseret News/KSL poll.

To capture some highlights from this article:
While Clinton was only slightly ahead of Trump — 38 percent to 36 percent — Sanders, a self-declared Democratic socialist, holds a substantial lead — 48 percent to 37 percent over the billionaire businessman and reality TV star among likely Utah voters.
Sanders is well-liked here in Utah and will probably win the upcoming caucus by a 2 to 1 margin. Bernie’s been working the state hard; I received no less than three mailers yesterday as well as a phone call from a phone banker. He also had a rally on Friday and an additional one tomorrow.
Of course, this is only valid if it’s Drumpf. Par for the course, Democrats get stomped if it’s anyone else from the island of misfit politician (see below). Cruz will win the state come Tuesday which is inline with public sentiment for the past few months. Indeed, even from polls conducted last year in the state, Cruz, Kasich, Rubio, Carson, even Jeb! would have finished far ahead in a primary election over Drumpf in the state.
For all of our unfortunate quirks as a state, Mormons have a very serious issue with Trump on moral grounds. This poll doesn’t even reflect how Trump further bashed Romney in his rally here on Friday which was sprayed all over the news in a very negative light.
General election polls are, for the large part, somewhat meaningless this far out, but optics and narrative play a huge part in shaping the landscape. If red states like Utah can suddenly become competitive, can states like Arizona and Texas turn blue? We’ll never know if you don’t support the nominee whatever their last name is.
To all DKos’ers: get over your bitterness, harbor your resentment and play for the long game. This election is bigger than yourself and bigger than any one candidate. It’s time to put on your big boy pants and make a difference instead of attacking each other so numbers like below can become the reality come November.
