Markos from the beginning of the 2016 election cycle you rallied with the lemmings all wanting the safe bet Democratic nominee for president. It was Hillary how could she lose? To hell with principles, the poor, the remaining uninsured, our young college graduates with astronomical debt or a living wage. $15 is too much $12 is what we need, not a living wage but hopefully enough to appease the poor, we can’t afford a free education for all, and insure all the uninsured so the could obtain healthcare.
As long as as Donald Trump or Ted Cruz is the Republican nominee Hillary may be a safe bet. But if it is John Kasich not only does she go down but so does our chances to take back the senate and the house. Kasich gives the Independents, and Republican voters the chance to vote against Hillary without holding their nose and along side the voters who support Kasich this may be a mountain too high. Hillary’s negatives which she has had from the beginning with Independent and Republican voters becomes her Achilles heel.
Markos has always stated that Democrats must get more people to vote in order to win. Hillary Clinton will not do this. Markos you were too young to live through the 1968 election, I wasn’t. Young people flocked to McCarthy and Robert Kennedy. Hubert Humphrey, a great man, would not break with LBJ on the war and after Chicago the young (I was 20) quit campaigning and were resigned to “more of the same”. Hillary represents “more of the same today”. Say what you want but Hillary is no more than a pawn of Goldman Sachs like every President before her, that is why she represents “more of the same” to many young people. She is against a $15 living wage, and raising taxes in order to provide a college education or post secondary education to all and provide healthcare to all through single payer.
Bernie supporters are believers and in order to keep them active in the campaign they need something to believe in and it is NOT “MORE OF THE SAM”. The young are not interested in the lesser of two evils-THEY WANT REAL CHANGE and with Hillary they do not get it. Hillary has a trust issue and if she wants to allay that issue she would release her transcripts for her paid Bank speeches. Any candidate in their right mind would release those transcripts if they HELPED HER. It is obvious those transcripts will not help her. Right or wrong people will believe she is in the pocket of big banks without their release. The fault for this lack of TRUST lies squarely with Hillary, over the years it is her, the press and Republicans that have created the Doubting Thomas’s regarding trust in her. The press and the Republicans will not or cannot regain the people’s trust in Hillary. Hillary is the only one that can do that. Until she shows she is trustworthy the young with Bernie’s defeat will set on the sidelines.
From the beginning of this election cycle I could not believe your rush to Hillary. This was not the same person who wrote Rushing The Gate and Taking Back The System (read them both). Yet it was. Whether they are Republican or Democratic voters they are sick and tired of being sick and tired of people they voted for selling them short if not out. What I am trying to understand is why. Was it because of your personal gain or future gain, was it because the time for you to run for a safe congressional seat is getting closer that you chose the safe way and not the right way. I don’t know, but I lived through the 1968 election and campaigned for Bobby Kennedy in the 1968 election. After having my heart cut out I could not bring myself to campaign for “more of the same”. Unfortunately the young are no different today than they were then and they will not vote for “more of the same”.
