On Wednesday, I posted a diary called “The 2016 Presidential campaign in a nutshell” which consisted pretty much of just this:
A few days later, Jimmy Kimmel (with an assist from Hillary herself) took this to the next logical step with this hilarious but also depressing segment, which focuses on this exact point:
.
.
.
.
...which brings me to this morning, when Hillary tweeted out the following:
A nice, simple, generic, perfectly innocent recognition of the fact that today is, you know, Easter Sunday, right? Nothing anyone could possibly take offense to.
Or so you would think:
And of course, this bit of drivel has been retweeted by at least 40 people so far, along with the following:
Etc, etc…
When I called Grenell out on being a douchebag, he actually responded:
OH! HEAR THAT, EVERYONE?? SHE “DOESN’T USUALLY SAY IT”, SO I GUESS SHE’S FORBIDDEN FROM EVER UTTERING THAT PHRASE FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE!!
(Oh, and for anyone who isn’t familiar with Richard Grenell, guess what? Turns out he’s (wait for it)...a FOX News contributor. Color me shocked. Not.)
And you know Goddamned well that if she HADN’T included the “...to those who celebrate” clarifier, she’d be torn to shreds for THAT. I can already see it:
“Not everyone is Christian! I thought Democrats were supposed to be sensitive to religious freedom!” Bla bla bla.
For the record, I’m Jewish myself, and I honestly wouldn’t have given a rat’s ass if she hadn’t included the caveat…but that’s because I have a life and a clue.
Of course, as usual, the whole thing is utter bullshit anyway:
I realize that every politician (especially those running for POTUS) faces some amount of over-scrutinization of everything they say or do, but for Hillary, it’s ramped up to overdrive. How much of this is simply sexist mansplaining (ie, applicable to any woman who might run for POTUS) vs. Hillary personally, I have no idea, but it’s really pissing me off.
Oh, one more thing: After the nonsense when I posted the previous “headline” diary, anyone who posts one damned comment about how “Meanwhile, the media ignores Bernie completely!” or “She deserves it for being a corporate shill!” can consider themselves pre-emptively given the middle finger for threadjacking. NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT HER VS. HIM, DAMMIT.
UPDATE: Just for the heck of it...
