Dear Hillary People, and people who don’t lean Hillary but are just idealists about the Democratic Part: I’m so sorry you’ve experienced butthurt. I’m sorry that you have trouble with the cognitive dissonance that results when people like me point out that, even though she’s been claiming she’s a Democrat and Bernie isn’t, Hillary isn’t really what this party should be. Here’s a picture of a pretty blue flower to make your butt feel better.
I got grumpy myself earlier today. Some CEO and would-be politician from Michigan, where everything is wonderful, was saying how we all need to be one big happy family. He said that attacking Hillary is just what the right wing PACs want us to do, and they’re funding the memes that progressives will click to attack her.
Here is my response, which I posted to the person’s comment on his “I’m a Politician!” facebook page:
I would respectfully disagree. The poling shows that Hillary is a weak candidate against Trump. History shows she's a weak supporter of traditional Democratic values. The best thing we Democrats can do is to expose her history, and her underhanded tactics in the current race, and move her out of the way. No establishment candidate will do well this election cycle. Bernie is polling to beat Trump, and will not make those of us on the democratic side of the Democratic party sick to our stomachs in the act of voting for him.
I'm tired of concern trolls who say they like Bernie but then dismiss him and tell me I have to like Hillary too. Hillary is, and has always been, a Democrat in name only. (Well, unless she was a Republican Goldwater Girl...) Please notice that his is always phrased as a plea to stop attacking Hillary. This is never a plea for her camp to stop attacking Bernie. I believe that this is not a plea for unity, but a tactic from her campaign.
To this, he replied with snark about me being an example of his position. It went downhill from there.
This still leaves me wondering though. Why on earth are people so butthurt about Hillary’s past being pointed out? It’s on her record! We’re vetting the candidates! You think Trump is going to be nicer to her? And yet I keep hearing these complaints about the Bernie camp being mean and unreasonable every time her past is put in the light again.
And yet they think it’s okay to call us “Bernie Bros.” They think it’s okay to say he’s not a Democrat. They think it’s okay to say “Well, he’s a Socialist, and so he can’t win.” Whenever yet another horrible thing about her comes out, they yell “Stop attacking her! WHAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaa My Butt Hurts!!!”
I get it that there are some who won’t vote for Bernie in November because they have too much butthurt. They’ve been in a Hillary crush since 1993, and while they love to call themselves Democrats, they really like monarchy and coronations too. They’re too enchanted to notice that she’s a warmongering bigot that uses office as an ATM, laundering yoooooj amounts of money through the Clinton Foundation. You think Goldman Sachs gives her money while not expecting a return on investment? Well she can kiss Henry’s withered old ass as far as I’m concerned. And those with butthurt who would rather see Trump win than Bernie are fewer and farther between than those who would rather see Trump win than Hillary. Yes, there’s a difference between Trump and Hillary. But neither one is a Democrat. A win for one is a win for the other.
I want a win in November, and a Goldwater Girl isn’t going to do it for me. Someone who poses for pictures with Trump at his wedding, and calls Kissinger a mentor, is not going to do it for me. I want a real FDR style Democrat. Someone explain to me why I should hold back and be nice to the monster lady about it.
