From NBC affiliate WVTM13 in Birmingham:
Rebekah Caldwell Mason has resigned as Gov. Robert Bentley's senior political adviser.
Bentley's press office distributed the following statement Wednesday afternoon:
“I have resigned as Senior Political Advisor to Governor Bentley and will no longer be paid from his campaign fund. I have also ended my work with the Alabama Council For Excellent Government. My only plans are to focus my full attention on my precious children and my husband who I love dearly. They are the most important people in my life. Thank you for your prayers for our family.”

Things are definitely hotting up regarding this story. Just yesterday it was revealed that Bentley and Mason share a secret safe deposit box! From Yellowhammer News:
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and his senior advisor and mistress Rebekah Mason share a secret safe deposit box at a Montgomery bank, Yellowhammer News has exclusively learned.
The names on the box are Robert J. Bentley and Rebekah A. Mason, who alone share access to the box’s contents. The addresses on the box are the Governor’s Mansion in Montgomery, and Mrs. Mason’s private residence in Tuscaloosa. The box was initially opened on Tuesday, January 5th of this year, and remains open as of this week.
Proof of the box’s existence, which has not been known to the public until now, was provided to Yellowhammer by a confidential source, who shared the indisputable evidence on condition of anonymity.

When Yellowhammer News inquired with the Governor’s office about the alleged safe deposit box, a spokesperson replied that the Governor has already said everything he is going to say about the issue. “He is moving forward.” LoL
When WVTM13 made a similar request for comment, they got no reply at all.
