My takeaway from the March 15th ultimatum.
Familism is a type of collectivism in which the one is expected to prioritize the needs of the greater society or family over the needs of the individual. This plays out on a large scale in North Korea, where the Great Leader Kim Il-Sung is Father and the Communist Party is Mother. Thus, not only are the people expected to cherish their birth parents and treat them with all the respect demanded of traditional Confucian filial piety, but they must cherish and adore the ruling Kim family and the Mother Party even more so.
It seems we are moving the Democratic Party to an even greater authoritative party. This is NOT the message we should be sending. All this does is make people who don’t vote even more convinced that both sides are the same. We instead should look to continue a lively and spirited debate that welcomes the continued push to the left that is desperately needed in the Democratic Party.
No attacks on Hillary Clinton using right-wing tropes of sources. She’s had 30 years of bullshit flung at her from the Right, there’s no need to have Daily Kos give them an assist.
The problem with this is according to the Hillary Reagan Clinton crowd (and that isn’t a right-wing trope as the RWNJs would call what I said heresy) is that ANY criticism of her is a right-wing trope. We have been hearing that for months on end. All it is, is a cheap and quite frankly very UNdemocratic way of stifling honest debate.
Now a qualifier was added to “address this concern”
Constructive criticism from the Left is allowed. There’s a difference between constructive and destructive criticism. Do I need to spell it out? It’s the difference between “We need to put pressure on her to do the right thing on TPP” versus “she’s a sell-out corporatist whore oligarch.” In general, if you’re resorting to cheap sloganeering like “oligarch” or “warmonger” or “neocon”, you might want to reframe your argument in a more substantive, issue-focused and constructive matter. Again, I’m not interested in furthering the Right’s hate-fueled media machine. If that’s what you want, might I suggest Free Republic?
So basically, you will have to preface anything with “All great all-mighty HRC and her supporters, may I please make a point I may disagree with. You must show your compliance and subservience to HRC, the corporate controlled DNC, and their corporate lackeys which have rigged the process to the planned coronation as it is her turn.
Onto another point made
If you are going to be pessimistic, you better support it. There’s a difference between “Clinton can’t beat Trump” and “Clinton can’t beat Trump in Alabama”. There is also a difference between the blanket “Clinton can’t beat Trump” and “Looking at the polling, I’m worried that Clinton is falling behind Trump because X, Y, and Z”. Obviously, that also applies to races and issues down the ballot, not just the presidential. If you are going to be a Debbie-Downer, you better have a damn good reason to justify your pessimism. Rank, unsupported pessimism is anathema to our data-driven, reality based culture.
Quite frankly, we are gonna get our clock cleaned by Trump as he can tack left and populist on economic issues. Do we get the meager right to say “WE WERE RIGHT” when the logical outcome happens. (Logical by way of how low-information voters and people who prioritize economic interests first vote). Will we get an apology from the backers of the corporate-owned candidate and her primary backers?
Onto another point made
Battle “the establishment” where it makes sense. So you are angry at the establishment? Go stick it to the man in downballot races where there good anti-establishment candidates on the ballot, like the Maryland Senate race and Donna Edwards.
Basically, you may only battle the establishment according to the rules OF THE ESTABLISHMENT. Let us be clear here, in the Democratic world this blog and other Kos owned subsidiary (like the media outlet Vox) are PART OF THE ESTABLISHEMENT!
Why do you think he pushed for the corporate friendly establishment candidate from the get go?
