The orange pinpoints are the location of each organized group of Daily Kos readers. If you'd like to join a group, click on a point and a box will pop up showing contact links. If you'd like to start a group, contact navajo for instructions.
A daily series, Connect! Unite! Act! seeks to create face-to-face networks in each congressional district. Groups regularly socialize but also get out the vote, support candidates and engage in other local political actions that help our progressive movement grow and exert influence on the powers-that-be. Visit us at Daily Kos every morning at 7:30 A.M. Pacific Time to see how you can get involved. The comment thread is fun and light-hearted, but we're serious about moving the progressive political agenda forward. |
SFKossacks Welcome ColoTim to Town!
Pretty good turnout for a last minute gathering to welcome ColoTim to San Francisco for his business travel here. We met at one of our favorite locations, The Beach Chalet, an ocean setting with a view of a famous surf haunt, Ocean Beach. Chris Isaak surfs there. Don’t venture out unless you understand the local undertows.
Ten of us rallied, because that’s how we are. When something really important, like going to lunch, arises, you can count on the SFKossacks to represent.
Here are some photos from the event.
Another group shot, this time to include slksfca and dsb:
You can see my beloved ocean in the a background, the entity that greeted us with the ethereal blast of ocean spray as we parked our cars. Negative ion city, which put me into a positive mood required for all social happenings.
All of my photos for this event live here. But here are a few more to whet your appetite. And I’m posting all the food pr0n photos here, right now. Gird your loins.
We begin the event with ColoTim explaining why he’s visiting and then we pay attention to really important stuff, like what appetizers we should order.
I neglected to photograph the crab cake and deep-fried calamari appetizers, but I did have the bandwidth to photograph our raw oysters:
These look like lovely Kumamoto oysters, but side pocket and I don’t care about details. We ate them in nothing flat.
Now for the requisite food pr0n:
Back to the humans:
And now for everyone’s pièce de résistance, dessert:
and,
It was great to see ColoTim again. If you plan on visiting the Bay Area, please let us know. We’d love to roll out the red carpet for you, too.
If you don’t have a group to hang with, please consider organizing one. Daily Kos groups are good for socializing but more importantly for organizing politically on the ground. You can create a group here and you can contact me, navajo, for support.
My question is, have you made an effort to organize a group in your locale?

Event Reporting
While we are awaiting the official recap photo diary by JoanBrooker of our New York City meet-up on Sunday, February 28, 2016 with navajo and Denise Oliver-Velez, please enjoy this place-marker group photo. Several attendees were taking photos and we can promise some excellent food pr0n. Stay tuned for Joan’s report. We had a great day that lasted from noon until 8:30 PM!
Saturday, February 13, 2016, the readers of Daily Kos in North Carolina joined thousands in the 10th Annual Mass Moral March on Raleigh & HKonJ People’s Assembly GET-OUT-THE-VOTE GATHERING AND MOBILIZATION action. Our readers braved 27 degree weather! There were two diaries about it: The march the trolls couldn't stop: NC-NAACP's Moral March on Raleigh, 13 Feb 2016 by DocDawg and North Carolina Open Thread: Marching and Connecting by randallt.
Here’s one photo of many provided by both diarists:
The marvelous NYC Kossacks got together to welcome front pager, Laura Clawson, to NYC. And what a fantastic job they did. Look at all the people who showed up! Full report here.
nhox42 organized and reports details about a recent meet-up in Maine along with food pr0n! Cheers and Jeers/NE Kossacks Midwinter Meetup Success!
navajo maintains the above event list. Kosmail her if you have any diaries about your event or if you have changes or additions.
This is an open thread. Nothing is off topic.
