There has been a lot of discussion about income inequality in this election. However, this has been framed in the less than persuasive set of arguments around which of the Democratic candidates people prefer. I would rather appeal to everyone on this site to consider the issue outside of that rather heated discussion and discuss the subject it on its merits. This TED talk from Richard Wilkinson, British social epidemiologist, and Professor Emeritus of Social Epidemiology at the University of Nottingham (retired in 2008) lays out in devastating detail how important this issue is to society and in particular how the U.S. is not doing so well regardless of GDP.
My hope is that you will watch this and if you are on the fence you might be convinced to vote for candidates that make this issue a core aspect, not just of their campaign rhetoric, but of their policy proposals. We have a very rare and unique opportunity in this primary election to make a change on the whole direction our society is taking. One which every other country discussed in this video has taken IN FULL with only positive consequences. Please, the hour is getting late to be brave and take the right step and not just another bait-and-switch once the general election comes around. We have nothing to fear but fear itself.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Big Love, Doolittle.
