If I had to list my least favorite politicians Hillary would be somewhere on that list. That being said I am sure she is a wonderful person overall. She has demonstrated that she’s a leader and can command the national stage. I’m not a hater I just don’t want her to be president. Feel me?
For additional context for those who will have trouble with the first statement, think about it like people think of sports figures. Lebron is among my least favorite basketball players, I don’t doubt his skill, I have a strong feeling he is a good person based on his foundation and other charitable activities. I just don’t want to see him win an NBA title...ever.
For the sake of reality, the delegate count continues to strongly suggest that Clinton will win the nomination, even without the abomination that is the “super” delegate.
I think whatever happened in Michigan will continue to be a reality maybe not the surprising part so much but it appears that my part of the country views the two candidates in very different ways. As the country moves through NAFTA country and out west, there are going to be some real challenges with regards to the popular vote that should not be ignored. Momentum matters and it would suck to get to the convention with an appearance that the voters have changed their mind too late in the process. Maybe nothing changes but if it does and he pulls off some of these bigger states, the delegate count runs the risk of becoming a weapon rather than a tool and I don’t think we would want that for either candidate.
Lots of lamenting about how us black voters are being treated, pandered to, having our votes questioned so on and so forth. Not uncommon for elections as it’s one of the few times national politicians spend a lot of time talking about plans related to the black Americans. This will likely continue and I’m not so sure that all of the questioning is external anymore.
His performance with black voters overall has to improve but there is a dividing line that could likely result in a bunch of 90-10 splits turning in to 70/30 or 60/40 splits depending on the location and age of the voters. I for one thought he was toast in Michigan. As much as I still think it is pandering the Flint Waterworks program is a good thing and a genius demonstration of political power. Even the “ghetto” gaffe was something that I thought would hurt him but I can only imagine when you dig deeper that perceptions of the voters wouldn’t give either of the candidates much of an edge with regards to understanding black Americans even if it is reflected in the voting totals and delegate count.
Makes me wonder how much we are going to need younger voters this election. My feeling is that we will simply because this is an open election and the front runners are so polarizing, even in Sanders case. Many people go through the I won’t vote for X candidate either way but eventually come around but with young people the threat tends to be more real because it’s their first experience in many cases. I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t make a speech on the floor of the convention. It must have sucked to be a Hillary voter in 2008. Knowing you have the experience and the connections and all that but still getting thumped by young upstart like Barack.
I know that the delegates are the only thing that matters but again, I would hate to go in to the convention with a delegate lead but maybe not the popular vote and momentum to back it up. Barack had two of those three. I feel like momentum is a better card to hold if the count is close, as close as it was in 2008.
It would be a lot easier if she could make the same argument as Obama about winning red and blue states but maybe we aren’t far enough along in the calendar to sort that out yet. Looking at the 2008 primary map is not like looking at this years map and it could get more weird as we go along. It’s still early but it looks a little Northy Southy to me.
Hard to tell who scares me more Cruz or Trump. I’m going with Cruz because he creeps me out to no end. We need or the GOP needs to decide if it wants to govern as a theocracy or as Americans. I wonder if Ted did the calculation and figured he would make more money as a politician rather than the leader of a mega church. Makes sense to me…
So much fun
