Dear Dems,
I’m bewildered by the array of Democrat organizations demanding, begging, cajoling, threatening etc for my scarce dollars for this campaign cycle (especially yesterday at the quarterly deadline). I’ve given a bit already but its time to get serious to the extent that I can. However, it’s unclear where one gets the best bang for the buck in spending.
To wit, does one contribute:
- Direct to Candidates: Yes I understand i can go right to the website for my favorite candidate (HRC, Duckworth, etc) and I assume that is the cleanest best path to give to their races. But, I realize that some candidates (like HRC Victory Fund) are also using their funds to contribute to down ballot races and congressional priorities so you get multiple paths to impact.
Should i just trust the aggregators to set my priorities? I’m dubious, but is this better plan?
- Dem Senate CC
- Dem Congress CC
- MoveOn (or equivalent)
- State parties
- Daily Kos
- Direct to the issues (e.g. Planned Parenthood, or NEA, etc)
- ActBlue (as aggregator for any and all of these, 3.95% fee taken out)
Bottom line is I’d like to know where the vast wisdom of this network believes the best way to fund our collective priorities for the President, Congress, Issues, etc. And yes its obvious there isn’t going to be a consensus on DKos on much, but any wisdom shared in the comments I’ll try to append and organize as this thread progresses.
Here is the hypothetical. Pretend (just for fun) you can scrape together $1,000 to contribute in the 2016 election cycle. Where would you contribute by % to have the biggest impact this year?
Thanks,

(also I miss the orange squiggle — I called it the supine sta-pufft marshmallow man).
