Went down to the local town hall a couple of days ago, and registered as a Republican for the upcoming Connecticut primary on April 26th. Since our primary is a closed one, and independents cannot vote, I figured I would do my part to see that Donald Trump wins this state, and then loses this state come November.
Now I know there is some risk in doing this, because there is a small chance that Trump could actually win the presidency, simply because there are a lot of idiots who actually like Trump, and would vote for him, but I want to see Trump get the magic 1237, and end up being the Republican nominee.
With Trump’s negatives so high, and likely will stay that way, either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders would crush Trump in a general election. I don’t want to see a contested convention because if that happens, there is a chance that Ted Cruz, or worse yet John Kasich gets the nomination, although I think either Clinton or Sanders would beat Cruz rather handily. Kasich on the other hand would be tougher because he is not viewed by the media as a nutjob conservative, even though a lot of his ideas are way out of the mainstream.
In the end, I feel the only way to beat Trump is to make sure he’s the nominee of the GOP, then defeat him in November. The way the GOP is going about beating Trump is all wrong. Let him get to 1237, let him win the nomination. let him face either Clinton or Sanders and get destroyed. We should give Trump all the help he needs to reach his goal. I’m going to do my part.
