Q to Clinton: was the 90's crime bill a net positive or a mistake?
Clinton says bill had the Violence Against Women Act, but there were some downsides. We have a problem and that’s why she made her very first speech was about reforming criminal justice system. Sanders voted for that crime bill and he has said same thing, some good, some bad, in it. But we need to address systemic racism.
Clinton asked about apologizing, says she's sorry about the unintended consequences of it, her husband has also said that. But mostly says there is systemic racism in employment, housing and elsewhere.
Sanders calls "superpreditor" a clearly racist term and that's why he called out Clinton on it. Sanders: we must rethink system from the bottom up. We've got 51 percent of people of color who graduate high school and are unemployed or underemployed. We've also got to rethink the war on drugs.
Clinton says we recognize that we have a set of problems that we can't ignore and must address, which is why she stresses early investment in childhood education and pre-K and she wants a good school and teacher for every kid no matter what zip code.
