Well, as always, my favorite state Senator, the filibuster queen from Missouri, is standing up for the people in her state. Standing up for their environment; climate change and cleaning up the secret radioactive waste that has contaminated multiple sites in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Standing up for health and social equity and a quality education for all, which she believes "is the cornerstone of all building blocks in a sustainable community." Of course she’s a member of 90for90. She is all about voter rights for everyone.
She is everywhere, covering everything, I swear I don’t know when she sleeps.
There are sooo many people dealing with so many things. They hit a brick wall at every turn because they don’t have a champion, someone willing to stand up for them. I get emotional about it because I just can’t believe so many people are allowed to get to this point... - See more at: thestlspotlight.com/…
April 15th — she’s at yet another town hall meeting on Radioactive Waste. 3 hours long and she’s enthusiastic and fired up about it.
April 16th — she’s standing with Planned Parenthood against the Republicans in the Missouri Senate.

As you may know it’s National Poetry month and I read a poem just the other day that made me email Senator Chappelle-Nadal to ask her who she was standing up for, so I’ll include the poem.
BLESS THESE HEARTS
Bless these hearts So tender and fragile, So easily broken, Bruised, torn.
Bless these hearts That beat in compassion and hurt, In love and solidarity, Having known despair or grief themselves.
Bless these hearts Living In the midst of brokenness,
Of human errors, Powerless to quench The pain of others.
Bless these hearts That beat in empathy and kindness, Standing with, standing by,
Joined together In our common joy, Our shared sorrow.
Bless these hearts, So tender and fragile, So filled with love. Bless these hearts.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
