Investigative journalist Greg Palast spoke with political humorist Lee Camp on REDACTED TONIGHT. The two discussed recent and past alleged voter registration inconsistencies. Though I'm not in agreement with all the views of Lee and Palast, there are some incredibly important questions being raised that affect all Americans.
Palast claims some people are being removed from voter registration rolls because they have the same name as someone in another state. The deleted voters are accused of “voter fraud/voting twice,” yet they’ve done nothing wrong. If they had, then why weren’t they arrested?
It’s mostly Black, Hispanic, and Asian voters who are affected, says Palast. They tend to have more common last names. Voters with last names like, Black, Rodriquez, Cohen and Lee are most at risk of being pulled from the voting rolls and losing their voting rights for upcoming elections — all due to implanted voting system “technicalities.” Interestingly, but not surprising, most of the aforementioned demographics and communities tend to vote Democrat.
"If everybody in this country voted,” the economist John Kenneth Galbraith said, “the Democrats would be in for the next 100 years.”

In the Camp/Palast interview, Palast talks about his struggle to get heard by America’s mainstream media back in 2000.
“I’ve been on the voter theft “beat” since the year 2000. For BBC Television and The Guardian, I uncovered how Katherine Harris and Jeb Bush knocked thousands of black people off the voting rolls — just before the 2000 election… allowing Jeb’s brother to become President of the United States by 537 votes. Fifty-six thousand black people were removed from the voting rolls. That was top of the news in Britain, front page all over the world, and it was on page zero in the United States of America.”
“There was a flawed list of so-called ‘felons.’ They accused black people of being felons not eligible to vote. Their only crime, really was voting while black. Not one was an illegal voter — not one. “
After finally getting the story in Harper’s and wining a national award, Palast says,
“I'm sure that George Bush was chuckling from the White House.”
This affects more than a presidential election year, states Palast.
“There is a Senate up for grabs. It’s real close. And there's a House, where every seat in the House is up for re-election. Right now the Republicans have control through a massive, massive shift to Republican votes because of the so-called Tea Party in 2010 the Tea Party. It’s an official outgrowth of something called FreedomWorks. FreedomWorks is an outgrowth of something called Citizens For A Sound Economy. The entire thing is funded by guess who... the Koch brothers.
They have bought themselves a Congress.
Much more alleged corruption and system violations are revealed during the interview. Here’s the Camp/Palast discussion on YouTube.
Given the recent voter suppression lawsuits in several states, and the massively extended voting lines at the polls, and now the exposed voting registration irregularities — this issue needs to stay in the forefront of mainstream media, as well as social media. Cheers to Camp and Palast for bringing the investigation to a brighter light.
