If so, I was wondering if you could conduct a particular poll nationwide that I wish someone would do, but I haven’t seen so far, even though it seems so obvious to me that it should be done.
Propose the 4 or 5 remaining presidential candidates: Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz (& maybe Kasich, or “none of the above”), & ask potential voters around the country: If the general election were held today, & these 4 (or 5) candidates were on the ballot, which of them would you vote for?
The reason for doing so, is to get a true measure of the popularity & acceptability of these candidates when they all face each other. How much support does each of these greatly differing viewpoints as personified by these candidates actually garner in America as a whole? This is the year when there is great disgust & distrust of conventional candidates of both parties, & where unconventional/outside candidates have had an unusually strong impact, & there is likely to be greater than usual cross-party voting & influence from Independents. Also there is the possibility that should some of these candidates fail to win the nomination, many of their supporters will insist on their candidate running outside the party & even write in that candidate’s name. There has also been much talk about 3rd & 4th party candidates running, especially from the Republican Party. Whether or not that happens, it appears that the movements begun by these outsider campaigns, even if their proponents end up not running in the general election, could persist beyond this election. For all these reasons, such a poll as this would be very useful. Please make sure to survey >1000 people, including all major demographics.
Thank-you!
p.s. I would poll the readership here, but I know it would be an inaccurate estimate due to the obvious Democratic bias here, but I would like to hear people’s guesses about who would win such a poll. To even it out between Republicans & Democrats, I add Joe Biden to the list. This is who you think would win, not whom you prefer
