Shorter mocking responses in comments:
There is no establishment -- just a few 1000s of office-holders, 10,000s of political staffers and government relations professionals, who:
(i) happen to depend for career success on the good will of big donors, and
(ii) mainly have in common that they have independently concluded:
(a) Hillary can accomplish more of the more sensible half of Bernie’s policies than Bernie can — so it’s great Bernie publicized that half;
(b) the less sensible half would run aground on the deepest inherent nature of homo economicus — so there is no need to actively oppose it;
(c) the little people will come around to this view themselves after the fever naturally passes — so there is no need for carrots or sticks from their betters.
Diarist’s further response:
People who believe this summary response is more logical and better-evidenced than the diary have, IMHO, serious selection bias in the information they perceive.
