Amy Goodman, spokesperson for democracy, and one of the last (or the last?) investigative journalists to be found on our TVs, over the public airwaves. Here she speaks to the power of that 24/7 corporate media that is infecting our brains with Trump and other pathogens (pap & propaganda) whilst keeping us from knowledge on the important issues of life & death, war & peace.
On DK, as on cable TV, we seem to have been perpetrating the infections rather than addressing the cures.
At this point in time global warming is the only life & death issue we face. Too few of our diaries are addressing it and those that do are often left in the rec dust. Being rich won’t save you and there is no planet B, nowhere to escape the inevitable that we are not addressing as it requires. And we no longer have the luxury of time. 1.5 C www.theguardian.com/... is now considered to be max we can go and maybe live…..
and we are now at 1.35 C. climate.nasa.gov/…
Head in sand, business as usual, and incremental change is just as much a killer as pure denialism at this point. Fracking and its resultant methane gas is even more potent as a GHG than CO2. We need drastic government led action or we all die….and it isn’t happening. Defense industry, planes, meat, and fossil fuels continue apace. We are effing lemmings going over the cliff.

Global Warming is the only issue that matters because it is life and death on a global scale and time is running out. (Many think it has already run out…but not even trying is ……………..(fill in the blank) This is what every god damn DK diary should be about now….not penis size, not Trump, not blah blah blah who did what to whom, not flagging, definitely not what is best for the Party. We are beyond party …this is life & death. Unfortunately out of all the presidential candidates only one (besides O’Malley) has addressed it as our most urgent issue.
