So, I’ve just had a comment removed (actually it was hidden) because it breaks the rules of this site. I don’t make the rules here, but I do disagree with them. I’ve been a member of the democratic party my entire life, and I’ve voted that way in every election. I’ve also been a part of this site since 2007, and I have been respectful, I have been constructive. I am a strong liberal, and I believe in progressive reforms, and legislation. That is why I am saddened to see this site and democrats in general support and run a moderate democrat with a weak platform for progressive issues. I will continue to argue this as long as I believe it to be true. This site was once so hopeful, so passionate to affect real change and it has boiled down to “winning” the priority is beating the republicans. Winning an election is a process in which to further our goals, it is not our goal. Progressive real change is what I care about, that’s what we should all be championing, not anti-trump, slow and steady Obama’s-third-term. That’s not why I am passionate for politics, and that’s not why I came to this site 9 years ago. It saddens me further to see so much nasty fighting from the Clinton supporters, and all to back a candidate that wants more of the same.
It is important to me, and my fellow young Americans (under 30) that we elect someone who will champion progressive legislation because it’s what’s right, not what’s popular. Sadly I think there is no place for me here, at this site. I do not wish to be told where I should stand or who I should support, I do not wish to be dismissed as idealistic, or not a real democrat. I believe my vote is important, it isn’t a tool to beat the opponents. Nor is scaring me to vote against someone a valid appeal. I wish that people here and around the country could see what a poor candidate Clinton is, and if stating that is against the rules then so be it. Perhaps DKos will wither away as it disenfranchises users with different opinions. Perhaps when Clinton is running her general election back to the center someone here will say “I told you so” but I cannot continue to participate in a one sided argument. One where progressive values are watered down, because it’s more “practical.” One where examinations of candidate’s records are cherry-picked and apologetic. This favored candidate has apologized for too many things progressives fought for.
So have at it. Good luck against Trump, and maybe I’ll see some of you on a better open minded forum in the future.
