While everyone rushes to their keyboard to decry how terrible their opponent is, and the media starts drooling over a fight, this all appears to be based on a misleading Washington Post headline.
It appears that this headline: “Clinton questions whether Sanders is qualified to be president”
This has been misunderstood by the Sanders camp or relayed to their candidate as a direct quote.
Clinton has never said Bernie was quote unquote not qualified to be President! The Washington Post wrote a headline characterizing her criticism of his New York Daily News interview that way.
As a result Sanders said this: “Bernie Sanders: Hillary Clinton is not 'qualified' to be president”
"She has been saying lately that I am quote unquote not qualified to be president. Well let me just say in response to Secretary Clinton: I don't believe that she is qualified if she is through her super PAC taking tens of millions of dollars in special interest funds," he told a crowd in Philadelphia.
Sanders added that Clinton was similarly unqualified because of her positions on the Iraq War and trade agreements.
Clearly, both campaigns are itching for a fight in New York, but can’t we all agree that when someone is misquoted by the other camp we can just correct the record and ratchet back the vitriol a little bit?
Clinton never said Sanders was quote unquote not qualified to be President. Bernie is mistaken.
