Whenever there’s a flurry of frantic alarm-sounding about “the mobs of thuggish Bernie-Bros are out again,” and the “aggressive Bernie-Bros” bogeyman presses go into overdrive, it’s certain that it’s covering something up.
Here’s what it’s covering up: before the convention, the Rules Committee of the Nevada Democratic Party’s Executive Board met, and made decisions giving convention chair Roberta Lange autocratic powers, such as the authority to decide how the voice vote went (you remember, the one where she unilaterally decided not to pay attention to those pesky “recount!” and “point of order!” calls).
Unfortunately, though, it WASN’T a proper quorum of the Rules Committee. Therefore, their decision to give Roberta Lange those powers was not valid.
Here’s the petition that was circulated about the invalid decision-making by PART of the Rules Committee (which they aren’t allowed to do without a quorum present), before the convention. HUNDREDS of people signed that.
Here’s a Nevada congressional candidate mentioning the same thing.
Here’s Nevada Democratic Party National Committeewoman Erin Bilbray saying the same thing.
A LOT of people are responding to this by suddenly pretending they don’t know what the word “quorum” means, or the words “no decision is valid unless there’s a proper quorum present.” Anyone who is unclear about this, here’s the definition (emphasis added):
quo*rum n
The minimum number of officers and members of a committee or organization, usually a majority, who must be present for the valid transaction of business.

No wonder the Sanders delegates were annoyed. I would be too.

Note: for anyone saying “it’s only Erin Bilbray’s word on that, though,” that doesn’t pass the laugh test: so she’s saying that there was no quorum of a Rules Committee that’s only a couple of dozen members.
If she were lying or incorrect, then the Rules Committee quorum would have spoken up now—loudly—to say “she’s wrong. Here’s the list of members that were there. It makes a quorum.” Yet they haven’t yet. I wonder why? Until they do, nice try.
