The joy came from this guy; Sellus Wilder who is a supporter of 90for90. He’s running for Senate in Kentucky against Rand Paul and a whole slew of other Democrats. Wilder is the one who has my full support though. I don’t remember what I was doing when I came across his website on 90for90, but I do know that I was sick of politics; I just couldn’t find the joy.
When I mentioned this to a friend of mine he said that it may be possible to rediscover if I expand my definition of “joy”. That really made me laugh as I pictured adding a broken leg to my list of joyful experiences. Then I came across a video by Sellus Wilder. This isn’t the one, you’ll have to go to his website for that one, but this one is pretty good.
He really knows what he’s talking about here, and his love for the land and the people comes through clearly. He actually does have experience as a politician, but what brought the joy back for me was him talking about, and emphasizing, openheartedness and truth. I think he could bring great joy to Kentucky, and to me as well, by becoming a US Senator.
So, if you’re sick of the front page and wreck list here, if it has you downhearted, and the whole business of politics is leaving a bad taste in your mouth, go to Sellus Wilders website and watch a few of his video’s. They are as good as a Dave Houck diary.
It’s a little late in the game, to say the least, the KY primary is tomorrow. But, you could go ahead and donate some money; his campaign may be able to make a midnight printing of flyers and send the College Democrats of Kentucky out to pass them around.
Or maybe you could email this diary about him to everyone on your email list and ask them to email it to everyone on their email list. It’s going to hit someone from Kentucky eventually.
You could contact the Kentucky Democratic Party Chair, Patrick Hughes to see if there is any phone banking you could be doing from the comfort of your computer.
You could republish this diary to any group you are in, rec it and comment with a smiley face or any other expression of joy you choose.
Mostly though, I hope what happened to me will happen to you. I found some joy in politics again.
