As promised, as soon as the polls opened here in the Bluegrass State at 6 a.m. I cast my vote for Bernie Sanders. I can report that there were very few people in line, but I live in a majority Republican precinct and Kentucky held a GOP presidential caucus this year.
Rather than beat a dead horse on who to vote for in the presidential race, I would encourage people to vote for Sellus Wilder as the Democratic Nominee for Senate. WIlder fought against the Bluegrass pipeline and has made the environment one of his primary issues.
I don’t know Jim Gray, but his ads are already uninspiring and looks like he will run “Kentucky State-Wide Democratic Fail 4.0” (Conway, Grimes, Conway, now Gray). If you are unaware of what that campaign looks like you: 1) pander on coal, 2) make personal attacks against your opponent the centerpiece to your campaign, 3) run away from President Obama. Bonus points for not defending Kynect and Gov. Beshear’s efforts to get Kentuckians healthcare. However, I hope I’m wrong about Gray.
If we’re going to lose, and we likely are, let’s at least lose as Democrats. Grimes’s profile in courage in 2014 of her refusing to state whether she voted for President Obama will hopefully be the low point for Democrats afraid to be Democrats.
Anyway, go vote.
