Reality check — many of Sanders supporters are independents. That being kept in mind, here's a list of reality checks:
1. Calling us names. This one should be a no brainer. But from what I have read , it's not
2. Fear - we are as afraid of you, for different reasons, as we are of Trump
3. Smear campaigns. I've never seen a strategy as stupid as the campaign to label Sanders supporters as violent in my life. If you think anyone supporting him is buying this, you don't get politics in 2016
4. Identity poltics. I'm a Black, gay guy. You have gotten all the votes you are going to get playing this card.
5. Trying to convince us that the failed ideology of Neoliberalism is not a failed ideology for the middle class, working class, poor and even some of the wealthy
6. Trying to convince us you don't need us. Unless you are completely delusional, I'm assuming you are aware you are in a tight race with Trump and the GOP currently controls Congress, many governorships and a large number of state legislatures
7. Trying to convince us that Clinton is not a war hawk, has not flipped on issues and generally is not a Centrist. Orwellian spin only convinces the party faithful and only to the extent they can't deal with her actual record. I actually have Clinton supporter friends. The ones I listen to don't bother to spin.
8. Tell us how pragmatic you are . If you believe a Clinton presidency will get anything done that we would like to see being done , you are not pragmatic
9. Talk down to us. We understand politics just fine, which is why you can't push us into falling for the same old tricks that increasingly have passed their sell by date
10. Think short term. If you think we are going to go away , you have not been paying attention. As Nancy Pelosi and others admit : we are the future. You will either become the minority now or A few years. This is inevitable. So stop playing the short game with us, and realize what's heading your way. We are focused on the long term. Not just this year, but the last 30 years were like , and what the next 30 years will be like
