Those se are some of the most important issues on the line this election. A good portion of us realize this and are ready to move on and take out the right wing fanatics on these and other great issues.
However, a fringe element of our own left anarchist feel want to hold the party hostage because they didn't win a democratic process they were fully aware of, or are suddenly realizing that they aren't in the majority...well shit, pound sand already. Let's go…
We are a party that can't seem to learn of or failed history. We keep repeating the same privileged and self defeating mindset over and over again, so we can achieve fairy tail dreams.
2000, 2004, 2010, 2012,2014. That's our history right there. We eat our own and then cry about the disastrous consequences. Yes, republicans may have started the fire, but fuck, some of us sure helped them purchase the gasoline and matches.
so here we go again with the same dumbass mindset from dudebros and their female counterparts hoping to continue the same failed approach. No! Just no, pound sand, take your ass to jail and do NOT pass go!
i understand that you are in your feels right now, but I honestly give two middle finger f*cks. I know I'll get flagged, but the just tiring hearing all the whining and complaining about something that has to do more with the path we take rather than the outcome itself.
some of you didn't like the “path” in those previously mentioned years, and you know the end result. The most recent example being 2010 and 2014.
2010. Ahhh, I remember you so well. Fresh off electing the current sitting president, some got in their feels and decided to teach one of the most progressive presidents in history a lesson and sat out, so we could “move him left”.
Result? A miserable miscalculation that let republicans gain control of a ridiculous number of state houses, governorships and gains in congress which not only halted the chance for more progressive gains, but also let republicans redistrict and gerrymander the f*ck out of the legislative districts. And look what we got? Safe republican districts for the next decade, which had resulted in the dilution of minority populations across the board; but hey, your feels mattered more than actually thinking long term and not sitting out a year where turnout has the greatest impact...so sure, I'll go ahead and trust your judgment on “process” now, please proceed to pound sand.
i have absolutely no patience or tolerance for self proclaimed “progressives” who cannot see beyond their shortsightedness and are willing to sacrifice the issues I mentioned above. If that's not enough to get you to vote democrat; if your principled beliefs lead you to go third party or vote trump, then you aren't an ally. Check your credentials at the door and bounce, poof! Vanish! Grow ups have real shit to do and don't need to deal with whining and tantrums.
Your mindset is so selfish and privileged that some of you still don't recognize it. Our form is democracy requires compromise. Even LBJ had to compromise when he worked on Medicare, FDR, on the new deal, Lincoln on the emancipation proclamation. Less we forget, Minorities always got the short end , and we've always been told to wait, for these legislative achievements to address us after the fact.
Now, in similar action, these dude bros are essentially doing the same thing by threatening to go against the democratic nominee if it's Clinton and some even want to vote trump. That's telling us to wait to roll back the immigration, voting limitations, and LGBT discriminatory acts some state houses have passed. In addition, let's not forget the threat to 12 million insured folks. That's trying to assure a Trump victory, and if that's you, then again kindly pound sand and exit stage left. I have no time nor respect for you.
President Obama said it best, you may be 100% right, but you won't get 100% of what you want. That's not how our democracy works, absent a real and violent revolution. As a person that came from a world of dictators, some of you dude bro keyboard warriors aren't ready for that kind of takeover.
I mean, How will you get issues passed without it? You've been disparaging the southern vote but need them to get the congress you need to accomplish your goals. The blue dogs may have been a pain in the ass, but they are lighter years better than what their tea bag and republican replacements turned out. We have different wants across the board as Dems. We may not agree on the approach, but have an overall appreciation for the greater good. That's what makes us special, but can also be our Achilles heal.
a good portion recognize this, but we have to deal with the purity police who
want to repeat their failed approach AGAIN. In 2010, the same type of folks wanted to teach Obama a lesson, minorities got the shaft. In 2012 you went further and didn't vote cuz Obama is corporate , neoliberal, oligarch blah blah blah; half of y'all don't even know the context of those words, but they're trendy and make you look cool, so word salad it is. What was the result? Republican domination of our local, state and federal legislative branch. Good job guys.
You don't appreciate what this president did under the greatest opposition and ineffective congress in years, but want him to deliver 100 percent on what you want when you were so entitled to sit on your ass and not vote to give him the congress we needed, or provide the congress he had with enough political coverage to vote the way you wanted. So please find some fine aged sand, and puns away.
You don't realize or refuse to acknowledge the racism he faced, but think Bernie will achieve what he couldn't and why is that? What could be the biggest reason? What makes Bernie so different? It's not his eloquence. It's not his ability to get things done in congress. He couldn't get along with his congressional counter parts, but now you think he will wave the magic wand and suddenly become a charismatic leader? No, it's simply white privilege that calls obama's achievements under performing, disparages clinton’s desire to continue to build on them, but then think Bernie can do better with the flip of a switch, with the same republican opposition, even though Bernie is to the left (though not by far) on policy.
A good portion fail to realize that both candidates are in alignment for the most parts on what needs to be done, but have slightly different paths on how to get there. But that's not enough. Practically the same voting records. But that's not enough. You want it your way, Burger King style. Well, shit. That's not how it works. Go back to never land and wait for your unicorn. When you realize how real world politics work, this big democratic tent will welcome you back with open arms. As for today? NO, you're not the new voice, you don't get to claim moral superiority, when you are willing to sacrifice the things I mentioned above for the sake of your purity or conscience.
You tried that in 2010, ‘12, and ‘14 how did that work out for you? You came out fine right? Meanwhile minorities and LGBT folks got the uppercut with more voting rights segmentation from redistricting, more insane laws limiting the rights of he LGBT community, and we proceeded to give the country 30 plus governorships, 2/3 of legislatures, and 60 or so percent of congress.
You want to claim the moral superiority of this country and say we are left leaning, but your actions or abdication of your voting power have helped put in place right leaning policies.
Your political stamina has zero showing of any influence nationally. Yes, we can rally, but what good is it when you don't translate that into political gain all because, you hate that you HAVE TO COMPROMISE?!
So like I respond to my kiddos, whining tantrums, et al get you nowhere.
Tell me what you want. We can work to achieve it. We may not accomplish all of it. But getting part of it is progRESSIVE. You moved the needle in the direction you want. It's more than what the other side got. We call that a win.
So yes, in this race you got people to listen, you are heard from the moon and back. Now work to help get what you want beyond just he short term presidential election. Work to change the system from within; don't aim to hold others hostage because they beat you in a democratic process; you don't get to take your ball and go home. eff that, you don't get to set the house on fire while I sleep…
All the threats, and the constant negative dismissal of the core of the Democratic Party coalition and pragmatism as a whole has you looking petty, privileged, and spoiled.
If this is how you choose to protest and vote, I don't think I want or am ready for you to govern…
note: forgive any typos, wrote this on the iPhone, but had to get this off my chest.
with that said, my Kevlar is ready..
