And she did so today. People say that Hillary is robotic and not spontaneous but anyone who was at Hillary's rally in Orange County, California today or watched it on MSNBC at around 11:00 am PDT saw something different.
When a young man addressed Hillary during her speech while he was being kicked out for not wearing a t-shirt, she allowed him to stay and this is what she said:
Man: Hillary they are kicking us out because we don't have our shirts on. [Inaudible] . . . shirts on.
Crowd: Let them stay! Let them stay!
[Clinton grabs a new microphone after issues with her first microphone.]
Hillary Clinton: Hello! Well. . . as long as you don't take anything else off?
Man: [Inaudible]
[Crowd cheers]
Hillary Clinton: Well, oh good, ok. You know you gotta make split decisions, that's what leadership is all about.
[Crowd cheers]
Hillary Clinton: And we are a big, diverse country!
[Crowd cheers]
Hillary Clinton: Ok, where was I?
[Crowd laughs]
Hillary Clinton: I gotta admt it is a little distracting standing up here looking at him.
[Crowd cheers/laughs]
Hillary Clinton: So I'm going to look over here this way. [Looking at the other side of the audience]. And I'm going to look over that way. [Pointing away from the man without a shirt]. I'm going to look back here [Waving and looking behind her to the audience on stage behind her].
[Crowd cheers]
Hillary Clinton: Ok. As I was saying. . .
And so she launches right back to her stump speech.
Hillary gets a bad rap for not being the best politician (she has admitted it herself), but I don't think she gets enough credit for being a good person and she is (from all the evidence I have seen). We have two candidates running for president who are bad politicians by most people's definitions but one is a good person and one is an asshole.
Let's vote for the good person!
And I hope to see more of that person as the election continues. I think the more we see that person the better Hillary will do as a candidate.
