Get this… NBC News just aired this investigative report that tries to frame Hillary as a big fat liar, and some hacker dude in prison gets some much needed fanfare and attention. Pay no attention to the final disclaimer that there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE that her email server was hacked.

Here’s the email I sent to NBC News:
RE: The Hackjob investigative report you just aired concerning the hacker

The story covering the hacker who claims to have breached Hillary Clinton's email server was a totally manipulative and irresponsible piece of pseudo-journalism. I am outraged that NBC would air something like that. It attempt to discredit the former Secretary of State, and to fuel the fire of conspiracy theorists. There IS NO EVIDENCE that this hacker guy ever hacked her server. Yet you aired him calling the former Secretary a liar. Your reporter downplayed this lack of evidence after portraying Mrs. Clinton as a liar. This was obviously a politically motivated attempt to discredit Mrs. Clinton. You should retract it and seriously think about restoring the image of NBC News as a fact-based, fair and balanced news outlet.
Sincerely, Heather Holly

Update:
Some commenters have missed my point. This story was presented in a fashion to discredit and smear the reputation of a presidential candidate, based on innuendo and unsubstantiated claims. It’s tabloid journalism. And it can influence people. This kind of “journalism” has become very popular because it’s easier than presenting substantiated facts. It also gets ratings, presumably. I feel it’s time for these irresponsible “journalists” to face some consequences for their actions.
There is probably no political figure in history who has been scrutinized and accused, more than HRC. Many of the attacks on her have their origins in conspiracy theories generated by the extreme, Right Wing media. My own parents still believe she murdered Vince Foster with her own hands, thanks to Rush Limbaugh. And now this stuff is appearing in the mainstream media. It is insidious. And if it’s allowed to go unchallenged, things will only get worse. It’s time that the consumers of media demand a higher standard.
