CNN posted a story yesterday about the Ted Cruz campaign claiming they could have stopped Trump if only Marco Rubio had agreed to play second fiddle and become his running mate in this election. As everyone knows, they tried the same ‘trick’ with Carly Fiorina, to a resounding thud with Republican voters. Now the contention is, it wasn’t the trick that was flawed, it was shortcomings and failings of the first-choice candidate.
It is an interesting read, with fine insights into the miserable Cruz campaign and mindset.

First, the story is a slap-in-the-face insult to Carly Fiorina, now revealed to be a POOR second choice at best. Interesting way to treat a friend, someone who wanted to help, now discarded as a simple fool.
It is interesting to note that Cruz’s desperation found focus still earlier, in his willingness to have Rubio play second fiddle to him. If stopping Trump was so important, why didn’t he offer to become Rubio’s VP running mate?
But the most striking thing is, nowhere is there mention of doing something good for this country, doing something good for its people. Nowhere is there mention of HELPING with anything, providing answers to anything. It is ALL about ego, it is all about power, never about service. And that is something he has in common with Donald Trump. One reason they dislike each other so much is, simply, they see too much of themselves in the other. Of COURSE they hate each other. In real ways, they hate themselves. One of the first reasons why neither should ever be put in any position of responsibility.
We have all seen how eagerly top Republicans play the blame card, which absolves them of any blame in their failures. Cruz would have won if not for Rubio’s shortcomings and poor character.
Usually they lay blame at Obama’s doorstep, that is the most convenient excuse for their failures. But the behavior is so entrenched that they can’t imagine any other alternative even when it means throwing ‘their own’ under the bus: Fiorina with the poor loser whining, the revelation that she was only maybe good enough as a last resort hail mary. And then rival Rubio, who CLEARLY should have dropped everything to grovel at the temple of Cruz, to beg for an inferior role to a man no one likes, or ever should like.
It begs the question: if Cruz treats his ‘allies’ in this slovenly, utterly disrespectful way, why would ANY voter think they’d come off better with this asshole???
And then the kicker:
When it comes to selfishness and monomaniacal fixation, Trump is even worse.

The exchange starting here between OhioDomer and webranding in Kerry Eleveld’s Evangelicals stunned that they’ve finally alienated everyone, including those in their own ‘party’ is brilliant.
