Today is June 1st. In less than a week, history will be made. Hillary Clinton will be the first woman to win a major party nomination in America. If we stick with her, she’ll also be the first woman to be President of the United States.
If we don’t, then history will also be made. Donald Trump will be the first clown to be President of the United States.
In a diary I published last week, Young People Support Hillary. I’m 13 And I’m Living Proof., I received a fair amount of (expected) criticism in my choice to support Hillary Clinton. I am open to debate, as political debate seems to be a craving of mine.
So I thought you might want to know what my top 6 reasons are for supporting the first woman president. (6 reasons for 6 days until June 7)
Reason #1 - No one else can turn an insult into 2.4 million dollars.
After Donald Trump said that all Hillary Clinton had going for her was the “woman card” she turned it around and said during a victory rally in Pennsylvania:
Now, the other day Mr. Trump accused me of playing the, quote, woman card. Well, if fighting for women's health care and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in!
Her campaign came up with a deck of “woman cards” and The Official Hillary For America Woman Card. (I’m providing links if you’d like to buy them.) They reaped profits worth 2.4 million dollars.
Let’s not forget that Hillary turned 11 hours of Republican persecution via the Benghazi hearing into 11 hours of free airtime and was able to boost her poll numbers.
Bernie Sanders could not do that.
Reason #2 - Hillary Is Qualified
Everybody says it. And they say it because it’s true. She is the most qualified candidate in the race, and was the most qualified candidate from the very beginning. Hillary has more foreign policy experience that Bernie and Donald put together. I’m proud to support somebody with such qualifications.
Reason #3 - Love and Kindness
I want you to look at the main focuses of both the Trump and the Sanders campaigns. Sanders was angry. So he started a campaign.
Trump practices fear mongering. So he started a campaign.
Hillary wants to be president so she can help people, (also because she wants to be president). However, she didn’t start a campaign out of hatred. Out of fear. Hatred and fear don’t get us anywhere.
Reason #4 - Electability
They say Bernie has a higher chance of beating Trump. But wait until they run against each other. Bernie Sanders is a Socialist, which is confused with Communism way too often. Especially by the uneducated. Bernie Sanders would lose the uneducated vote to Trump. Plus, see Reason #1.
Reason #5 - Not just a handful of issues on Wall Street!
I’ve heard Bernie talk about the issues. Nearly all of them. But I haven’t heard that passion ignited in him. The reason he is running is to put Wall Street in its place. I get that. I understand. I agree that that is what needs to happen. But it can’t be the only thing that gets done. I feel as if he is only adding his issues so that he gets more votes. Hillary is all over the issues that come up everyday. Giving most all of them equal attention, and compassion.
Reason #6 — If I want to run for president in 2060, I’d have a chance of being elected.
I’m a girl, and if I ever actually wanted to run for Office, senate, president etc., people would find it realistic, and not outlandish because I’m female. #NoGlassCeilings. We can make a difference too.
