Bernie Sanders oft stated rationale for continuing his campaign is the “12 million votes” cast for him. I wonder how many of those voters support the path he is taking. I have a small piece of anecdotal evidence to submit for the case that perhaps a very large percentage of them are not supporting his current path.
On a perfect summer evening in the leafy suburbs of Boston where I live, my wife and I joined a dozen neighbors in our cohousing community for cocktails outdoors was surprised to hear several of my neighbors who had supported Bernie not only say that they were upset with his petulance but in fact that they regretted their votes for him earlier this year. As the most vocal Hillary supporter in our cohousing community where Bernie probably got a majority of my neighbors votes, I was surprised to hear this and it was completely unprompted by me. The conversation soon moved on to Brexit but that is a topic for another day.
Is there any polling that would provide a clue to this question?
