Today’s story that a New York Times reporter had received death threats for the "crime" of reporting that Hillary Clinton had enough delegates to be considered the presumptive Democratic Party nominee from angry Bernie Sanders supporters has me enraged.
I can understand Sanders supporters being disappointed with the way things have turned out. Even to a point, being angry. I don’t agree, but we can agree to disagree.
But anyone who thinks that it’s appropriate to send death threats to a reporter for reporting a widely disclosed bit of news? Grow the hell up. Stop throwing a three year old’s tantrums, flailing your fists and screaming and making a huge scene.
It’s childish, it’s not going to change anything.. and it’s goddamn stupid, to boot. Pardon my french, but that's exactly what it is.
Do you want the story of the Sanders revolution to be the renewed focus on economic inequality, and the ways that the rich screw us all over? Something that will last and grow?
Or do you want the story of the Sanders revolution to be a bunch of moronic chuckleheads who tried taking over a party, failed, and threw the mother of all tantrums because they didn’t get all the cookies. A minor tantrum that came, made a lot of noise in a short time, and then faded out.
Your actions are actively tarring your candidate, and the cause you support.
Your choice. Grow up, or get out.
(again, this is only aimed at the small subset of Bernie supporters who would consider such things to be a viable method of dealing with news they don’t agree with)
