Something doesn't make sense to me. Every time there is an unjust shooting of a Black person by police in this country, our media erupts. TV, newspapers, the internet -- we are inundated with details of the tragic shooting, heartbreaking stories of the victim and their loved ones, and outraged marchers in the streets, demanding change.
Okay, I understand all that. But here's what I don't get: What happens when a Hispanic is unjustly shot by a LEO? What do we hear from our media? Crickets. It looks like Latino lives don't matter. How about shootings of Native Americans, what is the response? Silence. Asians, Whites? Nobody cares.
Maybe more importantly, what about the data? What is the proportion of these deaths by population for the different groups? Shouldn't that kind of analysis be the most important thing, if we want to understand what's happening, and what to do about it?
BREAKING! I wrote this the other day, and debated whether to publish it. Then, reading the NYTimes today, there was an article about some new research in this area:

Hopefully, this will help us in understanding and addressing the issue of police shootings
