Enough of this shit, it’s more than past time already. Time for the racist bigot Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County Arizona to be put out to pasture. The man is a walking cancer on law enforcement. Not only has he been neutered by a Federal judge, his continuing freedom is still under a cloud over whether or not that Federal judge will refer his contempt conviction over for criminal prosecution. Well past time, wouldn’t you say?
Paul Penzone is just the man to do the job on Arpaio. He ran against Arpaio in 2012 and gave him the closest race in his career. He finished within 6 points of Arpaio and there was grumbling that he would have been closer, and might even sealed the deal if there hadn’t been a “spoiler” third candidate in the race. The controversies and Arpaio’s verbal diarrhea for the past four years can’t help, neither can the public humiliation of being found guilty of purposefully disregarding rulings from a Federal court. Also, he is 84 years old, and the same “familiarity breeds contempt” that is causing John McCain such problems could also be a problem for Arpaio.
Paul Penzone is a career law enforcement officer. He spent 21 years as a Phoenix police officer, building a solid reputation for his techniques, and his ability to dismantle drug organizations. And it didn’t go unnoticed by others, he was assigned to work with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency;
While on assignment with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Paul was selected as the national “Task Force Agent of the Year” when he led the federal wiretap investigation that ultimately dismantled a large-scale Methamphetamine manufacturing and distributing network in Arizona. He led the Silent Witness Program for 7 years, most notably during the “Baseline Killer” and “Serial Shooter” investigations, which paralyzed parts of the community with fear. For his leadership in the successful apprehension of all suspects, he received international recognition as “Crime Stoppers International Program Coordinator of the Year.”
Not exactly a bad resume. The best part is that he firmly believes that there must be community support for policing to be effective, and worked hard to forge coalitions between law enforcement and local community leaders and officials. He also already has widespread name recognition from his 2012 race and should have a solid campaign apparatus to help take him over the top this time. Once Penzone entered the race, a potential 3rd candidate dropped out and endorsed Penzone so as to not repeat the mistake of 2012 and stick the good citizens of Maricopa County with a walking diaper stain like Joe Arpaio for four more miserable years.
Sheriff “Sneerin’” Joe Arpaio has far outlived his shelf life. Time to get him out of his Sheriffs uniform so that he can be properly fitted for his prison jumpsuit instead. But we can’t just sit here and wish this thing to happen, we have to get out there and work with Paul to get it done! To fine out more about Paul Penzone you can find his campaign website HERE. If you’d like to contribute to his campaign you can go HERE, and you can sign up to volunteer HERE. So let’s put a real Sheriff back in charge in Maricopa County again.
Thanks as always for reading and GO Blue!
