It doesn’t matter what happens at the upper reaches of the campaign; the ground game is where the action is. I’ve lived in Delaware County all my political life, and always remember Presidential elections as hard-fought, dirty affairs. This one will be no exception. And its starting early; this story in the Delco Daily Times describes how building inspection officials — in a Republican controlled borough — shut down the Hillary for America campaign office during its opening night festivities. And since Delaware County recently turned majority Democrat, I expect a lot more of this. Keep your game faces on!
UPDATE Friday, July 8th
Delco Times is reporting that the Code Enforcement Officer has released an email stating that the office had been condemned for over 18 months prior to the Campaign renting the office. (Sorry; there is no web link at this time.) There is also some question as to wether the renters asked for an inspection prior to occupancy. I still think this stinks of the worst kind of political dirty tricks — a condemnation that avoided posting for over a year? Renters not required to make corrections for the same amount of time?
