During the hearing yesterday; the continuing hearings of the hearings into Hillary Clintons emails, MY congress critter, Jim Cooper made me very proud.
I can’t embed it for some reason but you can see it here www.c-span.org/… It’s only 4 minutes long and is worth the watch.
He is the first person I know of to mention that previous Secretaries of State also used their own email.
He also mentions that the chair of the committee investigating the investigation uses his own email.
Thank you Congressman Cooper! He is going to get a phone call from me for this. I don’t hesitate to call him all of the many, many, times he votes with the Republican Party, so he is going to get high praise from me for doing this.
Feel free to call him as well if you’d like:
DC office phone: (202) 225-4311
Nashville office phone: (615) 736-5295
You can find his email at his website cooper.house.gov. Like most congress critters, he only accepts email from zip codes in his district, so feel free to use 37204, 37210, or 37212.

In other good news, for both TN and HRC, there was a diary yesterday, www.dailykos.com/… about Joy Reid schooling a Republican congressman. That would be Scott DesJarlais (R-TN4). Sigh.
The good news though, is that he has an opponent, something a bit rare for Republicans here in TN. Steve Reynolds is challenging Desjarlais for his seat. Reynolds is all about families and bringing jobs to TN, something he has already done in the private sector.
Working his way up in the construction business, Steven became Vice President of Sales at SRM Aggregates, a company that would later merge with one of the largest construction materials companies in the world. Steven presided over operations in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Additionally, Steven worked on multiple public works and private projects like VW, Amazon, Nissan and ThyssenKrupp. Steven has spearheaded and managed large budgets, teams and negotiated various multi-million dollar deals.
I think he has the kind of experience we need in Congress. I like his positions on issues as well; social security, women's rights, financial reform, education and infrastructure. I especially like what he has to say about veterans.
Stand Up for Our Veterans
We as a campaign are focused on residents in our District who have served our great nation in the US Armed Forces. We strive to build relationships with local veterans in the 4th District. Veterans and their families are an important focus for Steven. We as a community should come together to address their concerns. Steven believes in supporting opportunities for our local veterans and supports local programs that assist our veterans and their families to thrive in their own communities.
We need to modernize the VA and insure quality care of our veterans to insure they get the respectful medical attention they deserve.
We as a community should invest in veteran entrepreneurs and small business owners; help veterans translate their military skills for the civilian job market and defend our veterans against job discrimination.
In light of numbers revealed by the VA Thursday that in 2014, twenty (20) Veterans committed suicide every day, we need someone in Congress to focus on Veterans.
The money and time the Republicans have spent having hearings about Clintons emails is shameful. DesJarlais wanting to “set precedent” by prosecuting Clinton is deplorable. I think we can send that message to him loud and clear by supporting his democratic challenger — Steve Reynolds. We can give the next President some of the support she’ll need in Congress, and get a little payback while we’re at it. Such fun!
