A former co-worker posted this on Facebook and I thought it was remarkable in that there are probably many, many more reasonable Republicans who find themselves in this situation.
Dear GOP, get...your...shit...together.
I survived 4 formative years at UC Berkeley, one of the most liberal colleges in the US with my Republican views intact. I kept my Republican identity though I am socially liberal and reject most of your social policies. I continue to defend George W’s actions, though it's painfully clear he made colossal mistakes.
I can no longer abide.
The contrast between the two conventions, where both major parties had a chance to pitch their visions, is stark. Your party is no longer the party of Lincoln, nor even is it the party of Reagan. You have lost your way, with a marked decline when you let Sarah Palin elbow her way through the door.
Over the past few weeks, I've come to realize your crowning achievement over the past decade is the successful demonization of opponents such as Obama and Hillary Clinton. That’s it. That's all you've done.
I started this political cycle "hating" Hillary. I didn't know why, I just did. And in the absence of any substantive vision from you, I spent my time learning about her from friends, from trusted news sources, from speeches.
And your crowning achievement came crashing down.
I thought this election for me would be a moral, not a political choice; the rejection of your repugnant nominee. But I now want to make it clear:
