So apparently, a lawsuit has been filed in North Carolina against the Trump campaign, alleging that the campaign failed to discipline a staffer who threatened co-workers with a pistol.
According to the Washington Examiner (link here: www.washingtonexaminer.com/...), the director of the North Carolina state Trump campaign Earl Phillips, had an unbalanced moment when he threatened five fellow campaign workers by pointing a pistol at them. When complaints of Mr. Phillips behavior reached senior campaign staff members, they ignored the whole business.
The suit was filed by Vincent Bordini, described as a “dedicated, loyal Trump campaign staffer” in legal documents filed Wednesday. The suit further alleges that in a separate incident, Phillips pressed a gun to Bordini’s kneecap to intimidate him. Bordini claims he reported the assault to Stuart Jolly, the Trump campaign’s national field director, but no actions were taken. Stuart Jolly has since left the campaign, while Phillips apparently remains on the campaign staff.
So far, the Trump campaign has made no comment on the suit.
Previously, another member of Trump’s staff Corey Lewandowski, was charged with battery after an alleged assault on a reporter: the charges were eventually dropped after prosecutors declined to pursue the case. Perhaps we are seeing a pattern emerge from the Trump campaign.
